Who Does What?

Gerrards Cross Town Council is the most local of the two tiers of government which represent Gerrards Cross.

The other tier (established on 1st April 1st 2020), which has replaced the old Bucks County Council and the District Councils (South Bucks District Council) with a new unitary authority, is

Buckinghamshire Council (based in Aylesbury) including Transport for Bucks (TfB)

Gerrards Cross Town Council

  • East and West Commons, Latchmoor Pond and New Pond, The Camp (also known as Bulstrode Camp) – we look after the wellbeing of the open grass areas and the woodlands on behalf of the Lord of the Manor
  • Open Spaces and Play Areas including the provision and maintenance of play and fitness equipment on East Common
  • Grass cutting on the Commons, the Camp, and certain smaller areas
  • Street lighting on smaller residential roads
  • Providing benches and litter bins
  • Taxi Concessionary Scheme
  • Football pitch on West Common and administration of exercise activities and other events on the Commons
  • Reviewing all planning applications and sending comments to Bucks Council/South Bucks Area planning officers
  • Providing information about events in Gerrards Cross via notices on GXTC noticeboards, website events diary, Twitter, Facebook
  • Publication of newsletter ‘VOICE’ three times a year to keep residents informed on many key issues
  • Annual Town Meeting – residents’ opportunity to ask questions and make comments directly to GXTC Councillors and to hear what GXTC has been doing on behalf of GX residents over the past year
  • Assess our needs and liaise with Transport for Bucks to effect changes or improvements to highways
  • Providing small grants for not-for-profit and community local organisations on a case-by-case basis
  • Providing and maintaining Christmas lights, flower troughs and baskets
  • GXTC are preparing a Neighbourhood Plan and have set up a Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group which is community led

Transport for Bucks (TfB)

  • Road maintenance, repairs and improvement schemes – including roadworks, street light repairs and grass cutting
  • Cycling and walking routes
  • Licences and permits for a transport or roadworks licence
  • Road safety
  • Transport plans, policies and modelling
  • Airport expansion schemes – Heathrow, Luton and Western Rail link
